It’s a storied place in a remote location that few ordinary people have visited. History has been made in this woodsy, leafy spot—many times. So, what is the ultra-private and extremely remote presidential retreat we know as Camp David really like?

In his new book, Rear Admiral Michael Giorgione, who served for 29 years on active duty in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps and served as Commander of Camp David from 1999 to 2001, shares historical anecdotes as well as his own personal stories of the place that presidents and their families have long used to get away from the hustle, bustle and transparent bubble of Washington D.C.
